A trusted business advisor and former general counsel, Ryan Owens brings more than two decades of legal experience and perspective to his clients. Ryan aligns legal services with business objectives, mitigating risks and identifying opportunities for clients in corporate and commercial transactions. His practice focuses on mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance and finance, intellectual property and employee stock ownership plans (ESOPs) for clients in industries ranging from SaaS and other technologies to manufacturing and construction.

Ryan leverages his considerable experience to provide tailored legal solutions to management teams, entrepreneurs and business owners who want a lawyer who can understand and contribute to their business objectives on an ongoing basis.

Previously, Ryan served as the chief legal officer of DS Services, a beverage manufacturer and retailer with annual revenues exceeding $1 billion, where he advised senior management and the board of directors on SEC reporting, compliance, corporate governance, commercial transactions, intellectual property, and litigation, among other matters. Additionally, Ryan oversaw the company’s real estate function, negotiated more than 40 acquisitions, and collaborated with other senior managers to support risk management, human resources, internal audit and communications.

Ryan was an early stage investor and general counsel for an Atlanta-based SaaS start-up, where he gained an appreciation for the pressures and challenges inherent in entrepreneurship and the value of practical legal services provided at a reasonable price.

He has also advised clients on transactions involving private equity, debt financings, mergers and acquisitions, technology development and licensing, and entertainment industry services and regulation for clients ranging from start-up to Fortune 500.
