Ashley Ramos is a litigator primarily advising clients in the maritime and admiralty industries.

Ashley represents maritime and admiralty clients on various issues including insurance coverage, property damage claims, and personal injury (Jones Act and Longshore and Harborworkers Compensation Act claims) and prosecuted and defended both Rule B and C arrests, limitation of liability, casualty investigations (U.S. Coast Guard, NTSB, and other governmental entities), cargo claims, contract interpretation, and many other aspects of litigation in both federal and state courts.

Ashley regularly assists with the maintenance and cure aspects of matters, acting as the intermediary between clients and the plaintiff. She also assists during vessel arrest matters.

Ashley is an advocate for her clients, in and out of the courtroom.  She is often recognized for her ability to connect with clients, counseling them on the process of a trial and setting expectations to help them feel comfortable and confident in court.

She has deep experience in depositions, motion writing, and all aspects of pre-trial preparation including the preparation of deposition cuts, evidence, and presentations for jury focus groups.

Outside of the maritime industry, Ashley has tried numerous cases successfully to a jury verdict in criminal courts, having prosecuted criminal and family cases in misdemeanor, felony, and family courts for the State of Texas. In addition, she has successfully seized funds and property in asset forfeiture cases.

Ashley’s experience also includes assisting and defending clients in various types of insurance defense litigation including, premise liability, commercial liability, trucking collisions, auto collisions, wrongful deaths, dog bites, and other first- and third-party insurance defense actions.

  • Assisted with the preparation of documents submitted to both the U.S. Coast Guard and U.S. Customs and Border Protection administrative proceedings.
  • Assisted maritime client with compliance of their maintenance and cure obligations.
  • Assisted in the representation of a maritime client in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas, regarding a maintenance and cure liability claim, successfully reducing damages from approximately $5.4mm to $50,000, settling the case.
  • Assisted in the successful defense of a maritime client involved in a train barge collision
