Ali counsels employers on compliance with the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (ERISA) and related federal regulations, ensuring their retirement, health, and welfare plans meet legal and operational standards. He provides strategic guidance on plan administration and claims procedures.

His practice encompasses a broad range of employee benefits programs, including medical plans—both insured and self-insured with stop-loss coverage—wrap plans, cafeteria plans, wellness plans. He also advises on health reimbursement arrangements (HRAs), health savings accounts (HSAs), flexible spending arrangements (FSAs), and dependent care assistance plans. His experience includes providing counsel on compliance with HIPAA and COBRA, ensuring employers meet regulatory obligations while optimizing plan structures.

Ali represents both employees and employers in matters involving executive compensation arrangements, including deferred compensation, stock-based incentive plans, and nonqualified retirement programs. He assists with the design, drafting, and implementation of these plans to align with business goals while ensuring compliance with Section 409A and other regulatory frameworks.

Ali has experience advising on the administration and compliance of various retirement plans, including defined contribution plans, traditional defined benefit pension plans, and employee stock ownership plans (ESOPs). He works with organizations to ensure their plans meet regulatory requirements and align with their overall benefits strategy.
