Clark Hill Adds Richard Scharlat to Labor and Employment Team in New York City
Clark Hill announced today that Richard I. Scharlat has joined the firm’s labor and employment practice as a Member in New York.
Scharlat regularly handles employment-related and commercial disputes in federal and state courts in New York and New Jersey. He also represents clients in various arbitral forums, as well as before the New York Department of Human Rights and the New Jersey Department of Labor. Scharlat has extensive experience litigating discrimination, whistleblower, restrictive covenant, and joint-employer matters.
“Clark Hill has very strong national Labor and Employment and Healthcare groups and is on a growth trajectory, especially on the East Coast,” Scharlat said. “The firm presents a great opportunity to build on its solid foundation and further develop my practice.”
Scharlat has a particular focus on management-side litigation and advice for skilled nursing facilities. He also frequently represents behavioral therapy providers, daycare centers, and other healthcare companies. Outside of healthcare, Scharlat represents clients in the e-commerce, insurance, and hospitality industries.
“We’re excited for Richard to be joining our labor and employment department team and be a part of growing our New York City office,” said John Ermanni, Clark Hill’s Labor and Employment business unit director. “His experience in healthcare matters and a wide range of commercial litigation will be very valuable to our group.”
Scharlat is a graduate of Yeshiva University and is fluent in Hebrew. He earned his law degree from Rutgers Law School-Newark, where he was selected as a member of the Order of the Barristers.
